My Entry for Weekly Challenge #8

For this layout, I highlighted our 5 Generations. My Nana born in 1907 thrilled to hold her great-great grandson Michael born in 2007. For my 3 vintage elements I used things she gave me from her craft stash. Buttons, crochetted trim and english lace. I printed the pics in sepia tones and used the Heritage Cricut Cartridge for my die cuts. I think I would have added more brown but the criteria called for soft muted colors. I hope you like it.

THANK YOU EVERYONE

I participated in my first Blog Hop yesterday. I myself was able to get into every site but I think I got all but 4. I was participating in the on-line Cricut Class last night so couldn't pop in. Can't wait for that survey!

I am excited to see who wins and will be selecting the winner from my Blog tonight.

Good luck and have a great weekend!

LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE BLOG HOP

My baby brother Scott Shier: I served in the US Navy from Jan 1989 until November of 1998. I was a Cryptologic Technician and served aboard the USS Yorktown during the first Gulf War. I later served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and worked at the National Security Agency. My fondest memory would be when I got to shake hands with King Hussein of Jordan when he visited our ship. We also got a visit from Oprah Winfrey. She was vacationing in Greece while we were there for a port visit and requested a tour. She welcomed us home on her show. Some interesting trivia...the commanding officer of my first ship (USS Yorktown) is now the Chairman of the Joint Chief's, Adm Mike Mullen.

My Project to share with you today:

Iris Paperfolding

I love this technique.

Very relaxing, gives a great finish. Made several of these Patriotic Cards for friends.

I used a foil gift box for the iris in the middle. I thought it added bling.

Tell me what you think? Become a follower, leave a comment on this card and be entered to win some Patriotic Blog Candy. A box of Red, White and Blue goodies will be mailed out to you. To enter, become a follower and leave a post here. Winner will be picked randomly. Thank you for visiting. Come back soon!!!

Happy Friday! Here is my cool son Davey

Highlighting our youngest, our son Davey today. We are very proud of him. He is 29. He has a great job, bought a house, has a sweet girlfriend with a darling little girl who adores him. He plays 4-5 instruments, brews his own craft beers, has had several of his articles published and has a great personality most of the time. If you pull out a picture of my husband at any age, and our son at any age...they are clones. I was just an incubator.
We have endured mega hot temperatures all week. Looking forward to the weekend that crazily includes rain in the forecast.

Will be doing the BIG C's...Cleaning, Cooking, Crafting not in that order and not in thirds thank you very much.

I have to figure out how to update my Gypsy as it is not happy about the whole situation.

Want to try out my 4 new cartridges and if Gypsy gets sync'd up, the Smiley Card one as well.

Want to bake some cookies and if it rains I think spaghetti sauce will be my comfort food of choice, with garlic bread and a bottle of Cabernet. Mmmm
Well, thank you for reading this. Have a great weekend.
