KITTY LITTER CAKE

Hello my bloggy friends. It's Halloween and I love a holiday! A reason to create and make people smile. At work I decorated my cube like an aquarium and had a fishbowl of Gummy Sharks and Sweedish Fish to give out!

For the Creepy Treat Contest I made Kitty Litter Cake! I was so excited that it was  success. I have shared the recipe. Please note the disclaimer to use a brand new cat box and scoop! As if...

I was a Peacock and won another giftcard for most original! An awesome day!!! And we still get to give out candy and treats!!!

KITTY LITTER CAKE

Original recipe makes 20 servings (that's if people will eat it!!!) It s delicious!

Directions

  1. Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package directions (any size pan).
  2. Prepare pudding according to package directions and chill until ready to assemble.
  3. Crumble sandwich cookies in small batches in a food processor, scraping often. Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup add a few drops of green food coloring and mix.
  4. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining cookie crumbs, and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding, you want the cake to be just moist, not soggy.
  5. Line kitty litter box with the kitty litter liner. Put cake mixture into box.
  6. Put half of the unwrapped tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until softened. Shape the ends so that they are no longer blunt, and curve the tootsie rolls slightly. Bury tootsie rolls randomly in the cake and sprinkle with half of the remaining cookie crumbs. Sprinkle a small amount of the green colored cookie crumbs lightly over the top.
  7. Heat 3 or 4 of the tootsie rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle lightly with some of the green cookie crumbs. Heat the remaining tootsie rolls until pliable and shape as before. Spread all but one randomly over top of cake mixture. Sprinkle with any remaining cookie crumbs. Hang the remaining tootsie roll over side of litter box and sprinkle with a few green cookie crumbs. Serve with the pooper scooper for a gross Halloween dessert.

2012 Linda's Traditional Rum Balls

I made 18 of these jars of fermented goodness. I do have to do a taste test each week to make sure they are  yummy! Whew! When you open the jar and inhale...you had better not drive! I still have to make the tags and jar toppers and then ship several off. The majority will be hand delivered.
Lindas' Traditional Rum Balls
Make these Thanksgiving Weekend
Put in airtight containers and let them
do their thing until Christmas

1 cup Powdered Sugar
2 Tbl. Hershey Cocoa Powder
2 Tbl. Light Corn Syrup
1 Cup walnuts or pecans processed in food processor to fine crumbs
2 1/2 Nabisco Vanilla Wafers processed in food processor to fine crumbs
1/2 Cup Good Rum - This is your flavor so don't skimp
Mix all this together and roll into 1 inch balls that you roll in a bowl of powdered sugar

This batch makes about 40 1 inch balls
I usually make 10 batches! They are always well received!!
My dad used to make these every year. I have given the recipe to my brothers
and carried on the tradition and now here is my gift to you!

Congratulations to my hubby and his team

Commendation from the Mayor of Redondo Beach. His team represented Wescon Pop Warner Mitey Mite in the Innaugural SuperBowl in Florida this past December 2011 and received awards last night at City Hall. The boys have gotten so big since we saw them. They look ready for the next level that's for sure.

FROM COACH VARGAS:
I have been coaching Youth and High School football continuously since 1976. The program is to help these boys learn basic skills and safety. The program is kept simple so the players can practice and develop their skills in a methodical fashion. We teach respect for each other and respect for others. The long term goal is to use football as a life tool to develop a work ethic. We teach that their limitations begin and end with themselves.
For some of these boys, 2011 was their first experience with tackle football, for most it was their second year together. This team has great character and works like no other team I have ever worked with; they understand the fruit of hard work. Only two years into it and they are all on the way of individual success. We were blessed with the best group of parents as well as very dedicated coaches. The Pop Warner Super Bowl was their greatest team, and personal challenge, where each player learned their greatest lesson about hard work, not giving up, and a self awareness of what each individual was made of.
I consider it the ultimate privilege to be able to work the 2011 Redondo Beach Mitey Mites.
As they get older, at some point each will understand what I mean when I tell them “If you think what we are doing here has anything to do with football, you are sorely wrong.”

You would never know that this pic was taken at a Chinese restaurant after lunch with all the dirty dishes on the table in front of us! My son-in-law Carlos is awesome! He made it look like we popped into a studio.  From left to right...my mom Erica, her mom, my Nana Jenny, Me!, my grandson Michael and my daughter Melissa. Great day and great photo op!

THANK YOU EVERYONE

I participated in my first Blog Hop yesterday. I myself was able to get into every site but I think I got all but 4. I was participating in the on-line Cricut Class last night so couldn't pop in. Can't wait for that survey!

I am excited to see who wins and will be selecting the winner from my Blog tonight.

Good luck and have a great weekend!
