My Little Pony Princess Luna Unicorn Costume

I hope I remember how to post to my BLOG. It's been forever!! I have a new job! Yes another one but this one will stick. I am so happy!! My hours are 6-2:30 allowing plenty of time after work to run, shop, cook and craft...pretty much in that order.

I contacted my sister in law to find out what my little 4-year old niece wanted to be for Halloween. Well, she said Princess Luna. A My Little Pony Unicorn of the night. She had no idea of what she was gonna do. It didn't take long for me to put on my thnking cap.

First...what the heck does Princess Luna look like? Ahhhh shades of purples and blues. I had made a Yoshi costume last year for our grandson and thought I could use the same concept. A felt jumpsuit with a hood. I started with a Triceratops pattern as then I could get the unicorn horn to look real. For the mane I envisioned shades of these beautiful colors in tulle. It would be pretty lightweight, relatively inexpensive and fall like a mane.

For a Mermaid it's all about the tail!

My granddaughter Makayla sent me a picture of a Mermaid costume she wanted. She did not want it to look like a Disney Mermaid. I used 8 different layers of various tulle, glittered tissue faile and metallic webbed fabric for the tail in various colors of greens, golds and pearl. It was difficut for me to snap a picture that captured the beautiful colors in the tail. I tried outside in natural light, inside in filtered light...you just couldn't see it. Then as it was hanging in the door jam of my craft room the light hit it just right!

Getting ready for Football season

And the requests are rolling in. Hubby is having uniform issue today and practice begins August 1st. My niece is a huge Green Bay Packers fan and asked if I could make her 2 year old this dress that she saw. I used Wonder Under to attach the heart that I cut using the original Cricut Cartridge Good Old George. This is entered on http://www.mycraftingchannel.com/2012/07/svg-saturday-3-winner-announced.html

Knifty Knitted Hats for my friends' Daycare

I was asked to make knitted hats for my friend so she could give them to her Daycare. Some of the little babes must have grown since ordered but they look so adorable.

They were fun to make on the Knifty Knitter and now she learned how to use one too. My secret is out!

Cutting Felt - soft baby headbands

So cutting felt designs can be challenging. I brought this back to show how simple these little headbands are to make. The headband itself is t-shirt ribbing. I have a whole collection of colors and it only needs a back seam. If you don't have a sewing machine, you can easily stitch this up by hand. I put a little velcro on the headband and the felt ornament so they could mix and match. My favorites are the watermelon, the ladybug and of course the tulip.

Using the Cricut to make stencils for acrylic paint

I absolutely love the Ballerina on Wall Decor and more and wish this was the designer that did Shall we Dance or even Twinkle Toes. The lines of this dancer is correct and I use her alot. Here is a little Big Sister Little Sister set that I did for my neighbors daughters. They can be washed with no problems.

First of 200 Felt Football Pins

Cricut makes it so much easier. Footballs cut from Sports Mania, Numbers cut from Varsity Letter. Puffy Paint on the ribbon tails personalized for each player. Only have to use pinking shears on the edge of one layer. So much easier than cutting everything by hand.

Shier Terror

Here are some t-shirts I made for my nieces Lacey and Melody. My maiden name is Shier and my brother is a Halloween fanatic. Just got back from the West Coast Haunters Convention. The font is from Cricut CartridgeHappy Hauntings I thought it looked like drippy goo and matches the sign he made for his Haunted Maze. I cut it out of freezer paper and painted it with black fabric paint that stays soft. I added glow in the dark glitter to the paint. Enjoy.

Mad Hatter Tea Party Baby Shower Diaper Cake

Mommy to be requested no characters but wanted to match her theme. I did have to put a ceramic white rabbit in the corner.

Tea Cups are from Wall Decor and More, Tea Pot, Pocket Watch are from Disney Classics and are the the Alice theme. I had to hide contour the rabbit on both the tea pot and the pocket watch. If you look to the right you see this little white rabbit. He had to be there.

I fused 2 cuts of tea cups together with this fabulous new find: Pellon Pellex 72F. It made my fabric really stiff like it was fabric covered foam and it stays fused. I am going to find lots of new things to do with this.

You can barely see the inch and a half pink and brown polka dot grosgrain ribbon on each of the tiers but it matches the fabric exactly. I added pink tulle to the tiers because the diapers had too much blue and I needed the cake to be for a girl baby shower.

Enjoy and thank you for looking.

~in friendship,

Linda

My Weekend Project

Good morning and Happy Monday. Every year my husband goes for a 5-day trip to build houses for the poor. I try to accomplish something when he is gone. I am a messy crafter and love doing all kinds of crafts so I need the materials to do that. Well, then I accumulate craft supplies. I enlisted our daughter Melissa to come help me, promising her lots of goodies to take with her, lots of good food and a sense of accomplishment. Now we only have a 10 x 10 space to work with so it is not perfect but it is so much better. I will post the before pic later tonight.

Let's celebrate baby girls today

For my great niece Sadie. Filled a basket with special handmade treats. Burp cloths that just get better as you wash them. Closet markers. She has enough clothes to change several times a day. One of my famous diaper cakes. 90 diapers to make. I love the baby washcloth and spoon lollypop, and the spa socks for the mama shaped into a cupcake highlighted some of the goodies. And then we had to go visit when she was brand new and give her a hug and kiss.

Soft Infant Headbands with felt design & embroidery

These are fun. So soft. Adorable on a baby girl. Velcro allows you to mix and match. My favorite is the sunflower and watermelon. Oh I love the ladybug too. Ok...I love them all. These are the colors I have but I can mix and match so if you want a purple watermelon...ok.

My newest favorite apron to make

I have made several of these frilly retro aprons and the Christmas ones are in line next.
Enjoy
