Celebrating my Nana and her 103rd birthday

You would never know that this pic was taken at a Chinese restaurant after lunch with all the dirty dishes on the table in front of us! My son-in-law Carlos is awesome! He made it look like we popped into a studio.  From left to right...my mom Erica, her mom, my Nana Jenny, Me!, my grandson Michael and my daughter Melissa. Great day and great photo op!

My Entry for Weekly Challenge #8

For this layout, I highlighted our 5 Generations. My Nana born in 1907 thrilled to hold her great-great grandson Michael born in 2007. For my 3 vintage elements I used things she gave me from her craft stash. Buttons, crochetted trim and english lace. I printed the pics in sepia tones and used the Heritage Cricut Cartridge for my die cuts. I think I would have added more brown but the criteria called for soft muted colors. I hope you like it.

LAND OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE BLOG HOP

My baby brother Scott Shier: I served in the US Navy from Jan 1989 until November of 1998. I was a Cryptologic Technician and served aboard the USS Yorktown during the first Gulf War. I later served aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt and worked at the National Security Agency. My fondest memory would be when I got to shake hands with King Hussein of Jordan when he visited our ship. We also got a visit from Oprah Winfrey. She was vacationing in Greece while we were there for a port visit and requested a tour. She welcomed us home on her show. Some interesting trivia...the commanding officer of my first ship (USS Yorktown) is now the Chairman of the Joint Chief's, Adm Mike Mullen.

My Project to share with you today:

Iris Paperfolding

I love this technique.

Very relaxing, gives a great finish. Made several of these Patriotic Cards for friends.

I used a foil gift box for the iris in the middle. I thought it added bling.

Tell me what you think? Become a follower, leave a comment on this card and be entered to win some Patriotic Blog Candy. A box of Red, White and Blue goodies will be mailed out to you. To enter, become a follower and leave a post here. Winner will be picked randomly. Thank you for visiting. Come back soon!!!

Happy Friday! Here is my cool son Davey

Highlighting our youngest, our son Davey today. We are very proud of him. He is 29. He has a great job, bought a house, has a sweet girlfriend with a darling little girl who adores him. He plays 4-5 instruments, brews his own craft beers, has had several of his articles published and has a great personality most of the time. If you pull out a picture of my husband at any age, and our son at any age...they are clones. I was just an incubator.
We have endured mega hot temperatures all week. Looking forward to the weekend that crazily includes rain in the forecast.

Will be doing the BIG C's...Cleaning, Cooking, Crafting not in that order and not in thirds thank you very much.

I have to figure out how to update my Gypsy as it is not happy about the whole situation.

Want to try out my 4 new cartridges and if Gypsy gets sync'd up, the Smiley Card one as well.

Want to bake some cookies and if it rains I think spaghetti sauce will be my comfort food of choice, with garlic bread and a bottle of Cabernet. Mmmm
Well, thank you for reading this. Have a great weekend.

Happy Friday - Halloween is coming

My 3 year old Grandson Michael playing with his daddy in his new football uniform. Wearing Raiders #21, his Papa coached Naamdi when he played Pop Warner. I think he had a great start...don't you?

LHS Homecoming 1975

Tonight, 35 years later, we will be attending Homecoming. Wow! Time flies when you're having fun. I'm a Wife, Mom & Nana now! Just a silly little girl then.

Gatorade container pumpkins

Good morning and Happy Friday. These cute little pumpkins were made with recycled Gatorade containers. I cut the faces from black vinyl using the Happy Hauntings Cartridge. I painted the lids green, added silk leaves and that is it. They are perfect for adding a battery operated votive light and lining your driveway, or filling with cookies or candies for a great giveaway for a neighbor, co-worker, manicurist, teacher etc. Enjoy.

Back on after Sinus Headache relief.

Eww I do not like sinus headaches. It is still lurking but manageable today. Didn't even have my grandson yesterday. :(

Well, my new kick is repurposed stuff to hold foodie gifts for the upcoming holiday. Now I don't drink sweet drinks, so I bought this Countrytime Lemonade and poured the contents out into a baggie that someone will benefit from so I could have the container. Isn't she cute. It is gonna contain my Snowman Soup and a little tag.
-Enjoy

My Weekend Project

Good morning and Happy Monday. Every year my husband goes for a 5-day trip to build houses for the poor. I try to accomplish something when he is gone. I am a messy crafter and love doing all kinds of crafts so I need the materials to do that. Well, then I accumulate craft supplies. I enlisted our daughter Melissa to come help me, promising her lots of goodies to take with her, lots of good food and a sense of accomplishment. Now we only have a 10 x 10 space to work with so it is not perfect but it is so much better. I will post the before pic later tonight.

Let's celebrate baby girls today

For my great niece Sadie. Filled a basket with special handmade treats. Burp cloths that just get better as you wash them. Closet markers. She has enough clothes to change several times a day. One of my famous diaper cakes. 90 diapers to make. I love the baby washcloth and spoon lollypop, and the spa socks for the mama shaped into a cupcake highlighted some of the goodies. And then we had to go visit when she was brand new and give her a hug and kiss.

Happy Thursday

This hat is Orange with leaves on top. My niece Sadie is going to be a pumpkin for her first Halloween. She needed evening wear! I also made her an infant headband orange with the leaves for daywear!
I enjoyed a zoo day with my daughter and grandson yesterday. We read from the new Halloween book I brought him. Cliffords First Halloween. Michael likes me to read it over and over until he can "read" it back to me.

I also knitted 4 hats for my 7 hat order. I still need to add the daisy to them but the colors are beautiful. Melissa fell in love with this new craft so she took me to Michaels and luckily I had a coupon so I got her her first set of looms too. She did great.

Have a great day. The weekend is almost here!

Soft Infant Headbands with felt design & embroidery

These are fun. So soft. Adorable on a baby girl. Velcro allows you to mix and match. My favorite is the sunflower and watermelon. Oh I love the ladybug too. Ok...I love them all. These are the colors I have but I can mix and match so if you want a purple watermelon...ok.

My newest favorite apron to make

I have made several of these frilly retro aprons and the Christmas ones are in line next.
Enjoy

Tuesday Treat

It is Tuesday. My first Friday of the week as I do not work on Wednesdays.

I finally designed my 3 x 3 calling card for the Cricut Circle. I plan to swap them either by mail or if I ever get to attend an event.

I tested many different designs and had to consider the quantity (hundreds) that I would need to make. I knew I wanted them to have tulips of course and reflect me without needing to see my name.

I decided on a tulip from the Create a Critter cartridge. I decided to stick with the same design but make different color combos to relieve boredom. My first batch has a pink tulip with a green gingham and blue dot background. I may add a "terra cotta" pot but haven't decided yet. I made 10 last night and keeping that pace should be painless. I decided not to do any embossing or inking because of the quantity reqired.

I will post a picture but I forgot to take one.

Have a great day!

Linda

Happy Monday

It's Columbus Day but just another work day for me. My creative mind and fingers want to be home doing crafts. I have so much to do. My newest projects are using my Knifty Knitter Looms. So far I have made 4 hats with flowers. One in Ucla colors for the crosstown rival game, a punkin' one for Sadie, this adorable white one and a purple one for my friend Anne. Gonna make some pink ones in case I need them in the future. hint hint

Dinner is done for tonight. We have preplanned leftovers of BBQ ribs, potatoes and green chili enchiladas. mmmm

Have a great week.
