Snowman Soup

Sharing the Christmas Spirit with some yummo Snowman Soup.

I made 40 of these for my co-workers. I just had to get out of the "poop" mode. You know Kitty Litter at Halloween, Turkey Poop @ Thanksgiving. I had my choices of treats but it was not gonna be Reindeer Poop or Snowman Poop. So I told hubby I was making Snowman Soup. He said are you just gonna give them bottled water??? Um...no dear.

So I made these packets with Chocolate Mint Cocoa, Chocolate Mint Kiss, Marshmallows and a candy cane. I made cute little labels with MyCreativeTime Scalloped and Stitched Circles and the Snowman Soup Stamp and little Snowman Punch. So cute.

A little cup of cocoa,
I'm sending 'round your way.
I hope that you'll enjoy it,
On some cold & wintry day!

As you sip this cocoa,
It's warmth will warm your heart,
Just like your friendship warmed up mine,
Right from the very start!

KITTY LITTER CAKE

Hello my bloggy friends. It's Halloween and I love a holiday! A reason to create and make people smile. At work I decorated my cube like an aquarium and had a fishbowl of Gummy Sharks and Sweedish Fish to give out!

For the Creepy Treat Contest I made Kitty Litter Cake! I was so excited that it was  success. I have shared the recipe. Please note the disclaimer to use a brand new cat box and scoop! As if...

I was a Peacock and won another giftcard for most original! An awesome day!!! And we still get to give out candy and treats!!!

KITTY LITTER CAKE

Original recipe makes 20 servings (that's if people will eat it!!!) It s delicious!

Directions

  1. Prepare cake mixes and bake according to package directions (any size pan).
  2. Prepare pudding according to package directions and chill until ready to assemble.
  3. Crumble sandwich cookies in small batches in a food processor, scraping often. Set aside all but 1/4 cup. To the 1/4 cup add a few drops of green food coloring and mix.
  4. When cakes are cooled to room temperature, crumble them into a large bowl. Toss with 1/2 of the remaining cookie crumbs, and the chilled pudding. You probably won't need all of the pudding, you want the cake to be just moist, not soggy.
  5. Line kitty litter box with the kitty litter liner. Put cake mixture into box.
  6. Put half of the unwrapped tootsie rolls in a microwave safe dish and heat until softened. Shape the ends so that they are no longer blunt, and curve the tootsie rolls slightly. Bury tootsie rolls randomly in the cake and sprinkle with half of the remaining cookie crumbs. Sprinkle a small amount of the green colored cookie crumbs lightly over the top.
  7. Heat 3 or 4 of the tootsie rolls in the microwave until almost melted. Scrape them on top of the cake and sprinkle lightly with some of the green cookie crumbs. Heat the remaining tootsie rolls until pliable and shape as before. Spread all but one randomly over top of cake mixture. Sprinkle with any remaining cookie crumbs. Hang the remaining tootsie roll over side of litter box and sprinkle with a few green cookie crumbs. Serve with the pooper scooper for a gross Halloween dessert.

Princess Zelda Costume

Not to be outdone by her baby sister, my niece Lacey said Aunt Linda, I understand you are making costumes for people...do you think you can make me a Princess Zelda Costume? Another character I haven't heard of!! I googled it and said I think I can. Well, I started with a Victorian Royal gown pattern so I could get those split sleeves and flat panel front. Then hubby said that the panel in the front looks like a table runner! A Ha!! I went to the dollar store and bought 3 different colors of table runners and sewed them together to form the pointy panel. I made a vest out of purple satin with gold lame' sleeves and bodice. Since I had no measurements (I just saw her in the summer and she is tiny!!) I made the vest tie up the front so it could be as tight or loose as she wanted. Added jewels and large rhinestones and I think I captured this one too! What do you think?

My Little Pony Princess Luna Unicorn Costume

I hope I remember how to post to my BLOG. It's been forever!! I have a new job! Yes another one but this one will stick. I am so happy!! My hours are 6-2:30 allowing plenty of time after work to run, shop, cook and craft...pretty much in that order.

I contacted my sister in law to find out what my little 4-year old niece wanted to be for Halloween. Well, she said Princess Luna. A My Little Pony Unicorn of the night. She had no idea of what she was gonna do. It didn't take long for me to put on my thnking cap.

First...what the heck does Princess Luna look like? Ahhhh shades of purples and blues. I had made a Yoshi costume last year for our grandson and thought I could use the same concept. A felt jumpsuit with a hood. I started with a Triceratops pattern as then I could get the unicorn horn to look real. For the mane I envisioned shades of these beautiful colors in tulle. It would be pretty lightweight, relatively inexpensive and fall like a mane.

I Do Do

Good morning! I am here!!! Thank you for all the emails and messages. I have not been able to be very creative for 6 weeks!!! Yes, that is why I have been grumpy!

Anyway...thanks to Crafting Desert Divas, I was invited to participate in their BLOG Hop! Hooray.

I love the new Chalkboard craze. For a cute Bridal Shower or Wedding Gift, take 2 wine glasses. Wash them and then use window cleaner so they are nice and clean and shiny. Use Chalkboard Paint to paint the bottom of the stem and base. Let dry and paint with a 2nd coat. I recommend a foam sponge brush.

After it is dry...take chalk and write. The couple could have candlelight dinners and write special messages. I wrote His and Hers.

Try this fabulous paint...you'll be painting EVERYTHING!!!

Now this gift offsets another wedding gift that I made for our nephews' wedding. Now...there is a Home Store Gift Card in there along with the camping toilet, toilet seat covers, toilet paper, magazines, toilet humor books and hand sanitizer!!! But they go camping with us every year and we knew this would be a hit! Here is the card that went with it!

In the meantime...here are some crafts I have been doing for the office! The Drs' favorite colors are purple and gold.

God Bless America

God Bless America Lyrics
by Irving Berlin

God bless America,
Land that I love,
Stand beside her and guide her
Thru the night with a light from above;

From the mountains, to the prairies,
To the oceans white with foam,
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.
God bless America,
My home, sweet home.

It's July 4th --- Independence Day! Have a great time with friends and family and celebrate with Patriotism.

I have 2 simple projects for you today. I am the guest designer at Action Wobbles. I made this keep it simple card using A Childs Year and a little scrap of twine. If you haven't gotten your Action Wobbles yet...you can get them HERE.

My 2nd project to share is some home décor. I got tulle in red white and navy and cut strips 6"x12". Tied these strips onto a wire wreath circle. I alternated about 3" red and 3" white to make stripes and yes there are 13!! Then I put the navy in one corner and added a little white to represent the stars. There are not 50 white but I like the way it turned out! Looks like a little tutu on the door.

Cut at 11 1/2" it really holds a lot of goodies. I added some paper shred and will fill with favorite candies.

Life is a Full Circle

I have a coworker and we cover for each other. He covered for me when I was on vacation and when our grandson was born and I covered for him for his sons' preschool graduation and was prepared to cover as needed as his mother-in-law entered Hospice. Who knew she would go to heaven the same day we had our grandson. As he takes time off for the funeral preparations, I offered to share my time and talent. His mother-in-law died at 43 of ovarian cancer. So sad. The ribbon color for that type of cancer is teal. I made his family 100 2" crosses from Wedding Solutions cart. I bought this cart only for the cross and have used it so often, it was totally worth it. The ribbon is from Stand and Salute.

A great day for a Birthday

Looks like our grandson Isaac is on his way!!! Got the call that water broke and labor is progressing. Waiting for the green light to get on the road and head out to see him. I am so excited to see what he looks like. I made a little bouquet to take to the hospital. Pictures of the star...coming soon.

For the star of the show I used Nate's ABCs and cute the little boy and his dogs at 6". I had to add a 3rd doggie since Isaac will soon be meeting Allie, Scout and Hobie! It is the only cut in color with all the pieces inked for dimension. I used A Child's Year and cut shadowed solids at 6" of the father and son, the mother and son and the sister pushing the carriage. Some blue silk carnations in the bottom and I was all set! Hope you like it!!

Happy 33rd Birthday Darling Daughter

Every year on our annual camping trip we celebrate our daughters' birthday! This year is no exception except that our son and his family won't be there since our grandson is due in a few weeks. She was born at 8:20am on the 28th and I wake her up at that time on that day every year! We replay the 12-hour labor (I really should keep her up from 9pm on!!) and have cupcakes after breakfast! Here is her special card. With flowers and ribbons in some of her favorite colors.

A Little Birdie Told Me

I am the Featured Designer over at Action Wobbles today. I am working extra hours this week and had a busy weekend. Well here you go!! Everybody is lovin' the Angry Birds. I had bought our grandson some Fruit Snacks for his lunch snack and the boxes had these great characters. ALREADY ON CHIPBOARD!!! I carefully cut them out and put them on a wobble. Created a background using paper and making a little varsity stripe to coordinate. The stamp was from the $1 bin at Michaels a couple years ago. Great upcycle!!! Can be used for just about anything.

Enjoy~

Lets Hear it for the Boy!

Happy National Scrapbooking Day!!

My new grandson that is! Today is his baby shower and we will be showering my daughter-in-law for sure. I have the bassinet that we bought for our first grandson and hoped to pass down for all our grandchildren. So...now it will be Isaac's turn. I filled it with handmade goodies. Then she is having a diaper raffle at the shower where if you bring a box of diapers, you get a raffle ticket for a little prize. I made a diaper trike for that part! So here you go! Picture heavy!!!

Crochetted Blanket and hats. Summer baby yes but with everyone's A/C blasting, these will come in handy!

Bouquet of roses made of washcloths

Goodies in the bassinette -  don't you love the mustache paci??
And the Cowboy Bib???
Lots of fun handmade goodies in there.

Diaper Trike with soft cushy puppy

Shower Banner - in case you missed it

Large Framed Name with Pixar Character Stickers

And a special surprise...I will show another time. My Nana has passed and will not meet Isaac for awhile, but 3 years ago when my brothers were having their babies, she kept knitting little blankets. LOTS OF LITTLE BLANKETS. My mom put some aside and is giving Isaac some made by is Grand Nana when she was 103! I know I cried when I saw this!

Happy NSD!!

Hand-Picked for you!!!

It's another Peachy Keen Sketch Challenge and I just love how this card went from my head to my hands to the finished design!

Here is the sketch:
 And here is my card!

I took it at an angle so the light would catch my little jar! Lots of goodies used here but having the right tools makes the assembly go soooooo fast with a great outcome! The little jar is from MyCreativeTime Stitched Chunky Jar Dies. The flying banner is from MyCreativeTime Fly away with Me Sentiments (with Coordinating dies). The daisies are from MyCreativeTime Stitched Daisy Die. And the cutie patootie faces that make this card so special are from Peachy Keen Stamps Sweet and Silly Faces! Trying my hand at CAS (clean and simple). So hard not to add ribbon, bling, jewels or embellishment of any kind. I just love the clean look of the white on white. Embossing the background did make it look dimensional. The daisies are 3 layers each and only glued in the middle so the petals stick up and look realistic..

The baby shower for our next grandson is next weekend and my sewing machine, die cut machines and fingers have been busy busy busy!!! I have made blankets, bibs, hats, onesies, diaper covers and wall décor.

Here...Billionaire meets Mini Monograms for a banner at the shower. I cut the ties at 6" and the medallions from Mini Monograms at 2". I wanted to letter to pop so the letters are actually 3 layers. 1 layer of the blue, 1 layer of black and then the letter cut in aqua.
